This is a hobbie I took up about six years ago. When I first started I went hard and heavy for awhile, usually doing a new carving once a month. Then as my involvement in Taekwondo increased my carving time went down to where is has been over a year since starting a new project.
Fortunately I'm heading into a period where I'll have more time to devote to this past-time, so I can do some more.
Until I have something new to post have a look at some of my older works.

This is my very first duck. I traced a pattern out of a book about decoy carving and went to town. At this point I hadn't bought any power tools yet, so I made the rough cuts with a coping saw, and used hand gouges, a rasp, and sand paper for the rest. |

This Merganzer is the first bird I did without using a plan from a book. I made my own pattern based on illustrations in "Goldens Birds of North America". Here I was still using primarily hand tools but I now had a bandsaw for the initial cuts. |

When I got around to doing this Canvasback I had aquired a Dremel tool, which made things much easier. That allowed me to start adding some detail in relief instead of in paint. |
 |
By now I had added a wood burner, to help me add even more feather detail. |
 |
Now I even have a Robi power wood carver, kind of like a powered hand gouge & chisels. Making stock removal and rough detailing even easier. |
